Decorders

Bosch Security Systems of Fairport, New York, has extended its decoder family with two new solutions for streaming video from IP cameras in HD to large flat-screen monitors or monitor walls. Both decoders operate without an additional PC or software to decode the video signals. They support an economical update of video surveillance systems during the transition to IP technology. The VIDEOJET decoder 3000 enables the display of H.264-encoded video at up to 60 images per second from PAL, NTSC, or HD sources over IP networks. It can display a single video screen or up to four SD video streams in quad mode. The VIDEOJET decoder 7000 can drive two HD displays directly.

Fire And Intrusion Systems

The Napco Commercial Platform from Napco Security Technologies, Inc., of Amityville, New York, supports UL commercial wireless, addressable, and conventional devices with up to 255 fire and/or intrusion points. For use in new and retrofit applications, NetLink reporting modules communicate alarms over the Internet or intranet and can be used for primary and backup reporting. The company offers a full range of dependable wireless devices that save the costs of expensive wiring and can be added more easily to existing construction.

Alarm Sounders

E2S Warning Signals LLC of Houston, Texas, has introduced high performance, intrinsically safe alarm horn sounders and combination devices with aluminum enclosures. The IS-D105 sounder and the ISDL105 combination device are approved to IECEx and ATEX standards for Zone 0, and the IP66 sealed marine-grade enclosure is phosphate and powder coated, offering enhanced protection for onshore and offshore applications. The alarm horn produces up to 105 decibels at a distance of one meter, with a choice of 49 alarm tones and two additional alarm stages. The sounder can be combined with an LED beacon with an array of six high-intensity LEDs.

Biometric Cards

Zwipe of Oslo, Norway, has launched a new biometric card, a contactless smart card credential with on-card fingerprint reading. The card reads the user’s fingerprint in less than one second. Eliminating the problems of using PINs, the wirelessly powered Zwipe card authenticates users directly so the card system will activate the lock. Its fingerprint scanner has 3D capacitive technology and is compatible with all ISO 14443 readers, including aptiQ, iCLASS SE, and other leading brands. There is no need to change existing readers to upgrade to this biometric solution.

Cloud-Based Video

Sony Electronics Security Systems Division of Park Ridge, New Jersey, and Next Level Security Systems of Carlsbad, California, have launched an affordable, scalable, cloud-based video surveillance solution. IPELA CLOUD Serviced by NextConnect Video combines Sony’s IPELA ENGINE EX Series IP cameras with the NextConnect Video cloud service. The solution reduces substantial bandwidth costs by leveraging peer-to-peer technology from Next Level, enabling direct connectivity from the camera to the client. It delivers remote connectivity to multiple clients without limitations on bandwidth or video quality. IP cameras can be automatically configured over the network. Cameras automatically detect the amount of available bandwidth and select a suitable stream that optimizes transmission and viewing.

Dome Cameras

Panasonic of Newark, New Jersey, has introduced two new HD and Full HD fixed dome network cameras. The cameras are engineered for high performance in any lighting condition to 0.01 lux, and are equipped with infrared illumination for use in total darkness. Using UniPhier S2 LSI processors, they provide high-definition resolution at 60 frames per second and can encode up to four simultaneous H.264 streams. The WV-SFV631L is an IP66-rated weather- and vandal-resistant 1080p model and the WV-SFV611L is a 720p mode.

Door Prop Alarm

The EAX-300 Door Prop Alarm from Detex Corporation of New Braunfels, Texas, assures that doors left open by mistake or intent won’t defeat the whole security system. The alarm can be field-set for door-prop times ranging from one second to four minutes, with a 15-second default. After the time is up, a 100-decibel alarm sounds; when the door is closed, the alarm is silenced, so there is no need to wait for a keyholder to disable the alarm. The alarm is powered by a 9-volt battery and has a low-battery LED alert. It can work in conjunction with the company’s lockdown and tailgate detection systems, and it is available in a weatherized version.
